Guidelines for devotees

Before you register

Speak to your counselor first. They will be asked to verify what you write, and a bio-data that arrives without them expecting it takes longer for everybody.

Writing your bio-data honestly

Every answer is read by devotees who will check it. An income, a level of initiation or a number of rounds that is not true is discovered at the verification stage, and it costs you the trust of the person who has to vouch for you.

The confidential section exists so that difficult things can be said once, privately, to the Marriage Board — not so they can be left out.

Meeting a prospective partner

Meet at the temple, involve your counselor and family, and never send money to anyone you meet here.

The Marriage Board introduces devotees; it does not chaperone them. Meet in a public part of the temple, tell your counselor you are meeting, and involve your parents or guardians from the beginning rather than at the end.

What the Marriage Board will and will not do

The Board verifies bio-datas, approves them for publication, and releases contact details when two devotees have both expressed interest. It does not arrange marriages, and does not vouch for anybody's character beyond what verification can establish.

Protecting your privacy

Your contact details are never shown to another devotee until the Board releases them. Your photographs are stored privately and are never public. The confidential section is encrypted, is read only by Marriage Board members, and every reading is recorded.

Reporting a concern

If a devotee behaves improperly, tell your counselor and the Marriage Board. If your concern is about how your personal data has been handled, write to our Grievance Officer.
